Having the right expectations

Having the right expectations

Our VCs are sharing tips to making a success of your Grow Movement project.

Tip: Set the foundations
In my opinion, setting the foundation of the expectations is critical right in the beginning of any VC-Client relationship. Having the right expectations moulds the mindset and attitude that each person brings to the table. We were able to set objectives, stages to achieving those objectives and end deliverables by spending the first couple of sessions working on them together.

Tip: Think creatively
The entrepreneurs that I’ve worked with have all had unique circumstances to deal with in making their business a success, but they have proven themselves to be flexible, adaptable and dynamic in their approach to improving. Therefore, thinking creatively is absolutely key; the entrepreneurs you work with will have completely different situations compared to the clients you normally work with!

Tip: Encourage your clients to separate business and personal finances
If your client doesn’t already have separate finances, encourage them to set up a business account and unpick their financial mix. That way they can really start focusing on cashflow.

Tip: Don’t rush
Don’t rush into solving problems. Help your clients one step at a time and at the pace that they feel comfortable with.

Aernout Verhallen
Aernout has been working with Margret Kachulu, a Rwandan entrepreneur, who wanted to increase revenue and lay the foundation for further expansion.
Margret’s sales have been increasing steadily and she has added an additional product to complement her portfolio which has also been selling really well. Things are looking promising that she will be able to continue to grow her business and hire additional employees to increase her sales even more in the near future.
