Violet Busingye

Uganda

Violet is a self motivated Ugandan with a strong commitment to positive social change. With an ability to work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and a highly developed understanding of the context of SMEs in Uganda, she has been working for Grow Movement as Uganda Manager since early 2010. In the past, Violet has worked as a youth coordinator at Tokamalirawo Aids support and action group awareness as well as coordinating activities for women entrepreneurs in conjunction with Theatre International (African Solution).

Steiner Kagwiria

Steiner Kagwiria is a commited to creating a difference for people by empowering them through entrepreneurship. With an experience in small business management and growth, she holds a degree in business administration and has recently started working for Grow Movement. In the past she has worked with Ikongo micro finance as an accountant. She believes that, 'within every person has been placed a desire to be different'.

Chris Coghlan

UK, Chief Executive

Chris became passionate about international development when he was eighteen working as a volunteer in Mozambique and while studying about Rwanda at university. He worked as an international election monitor for the European Union in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. He believes Grow provides a way for people to take responsibility for their world.

Chris worked as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and Touche in London and New York,  advising businesses of all sizes from retail chains to global investment banks. He currently works for a global emerging markets fund management company where he manages investments across up to fifty companies in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is also a part time Masters in Finance student at London Business School.

Chris Land

Christopher Land is commercial litigation attorney and senior associate at DLA Piper LLP (US) who has successfully represented major national and international corporations in securities, products liability, and complex contract disputes. Mr. Land's primary practice is in product liability litigation, marketing advice, and corporate governance issues. He has successfully argued a number of cases before the New York Appellate Division and New York's highest court, the New York Court of Appeals. He speaks regularly on appellate advocacy and developing messaging for trials and public relations.

Bryony Simpson

Bryony is a trained Marketing professional working in brand consultancy. Bryony joined Grow Movement originally as a consultant, advising her business contact on its marketing and brand strategy as it prepared to expand into new markets. Having been a part of the programme, Bryony has a first hand understanding of the value of Grow’s work and, as part of her role looking after marketing, seeks to position the Grow Movement offer to both consultants and prospective businesses. She also focuses on building awareness of Grow Movement through the right channels at minimal cost. Bryony believes that Grow Movement provides a unique opportunity for people to easily get involved in international development and to utilise their skills in a way that can make a tangible impact.

Heidi is a dynamic development professional with seventeen years of progressive experience in organizational development and nonprofit fundraising. Heidi has raised over $ 70 million in annual, major gift, and capital campaign funds for nonprofits throughout her career. As the Principal of Mosaic Non-Profit Development her strategies have enabled timely mission achievement for both rural and urban organizations across the United States as well as abroad.

Heidi’s strengths in strategic planning and operational optimization have been applied effectively in start-up and well-established organizations. Her focus on enhancing sustainability across the organization by establishing proven development programs has made her a highly sought after resource within the non-profit fundraising industry.  Heidi first joined Grow Movement as a consultant and believes the program has a deep impact not only for the individuals involved as businesses and consultants, but offers a clear model for social advocacy across the world.

Melissa Nobile

Venezuela

Melissa is an international development practitioner from Venezuela, with over 7 years of experience including policy analysis for local government and consultancy services for donors and international NGOs. In her current position, she provides business development services to one of the UK's leading consultancy firms on international development. She is qualified in Business Start Up, with a particular interest in developing the creative industry of developing countries. Through her experience she has developed a unique understanding of the development sector that combines public, private and international perspectives, which she believes can support Grow Movement's activities to be contextualized within the big picture. When invited to participate in the scheme- originally as a consultant- she found that the idea of Grow Movement provided a simple model for people with the skills, commitment and the drive to give something back to the international community we are all part of.

Georgie Corbett

UK, Fundraising and Marketing

Georgie is an experienced Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professional working for one of the UK's leading online businesses. Her role at Grow is to expand the pool of business volunteers by linking to companies CSR and sustainability agendas. She understands the needs of business from a community investment and employee engagement perspective and believes that Grow Movement offers people the chance to share their skills in a truly unique and rewarding way. She recognises that it is not always easy for people to volunteer in a way that can make a real difference and hopes that Grow Movement will inspire people, in a way that she has been, to see this is an opportunity to support international development goals.

 

Perry Venugopal

Perry Venugopal is a Strategy & Technology Management professional focused on the Life Sciences sector, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 8 years. Before that, Perry spent 6 years in the consulting industry working on various IT initiatives representing IBM Global Services and Ernst & Young. 

Perry joined Grow Movement as a volunteer consultant and strongly believes in the power and effectiveness of the business model underlying Grow Movement.

At Grow Movement, Perry is keen on leveraging cloud-based technologies and other disruptive trends to fuel low-cost innovation and business growth. He is passionate about social enterprises and has worked on multiple Habitat for Humanity projects across the US. 

Perry has a Masters in Engineering and is a Sloan Fellow from the London Business School.

 

No director or member of the advisory panel of Grow Movement receives any remuneration for their work. All of our paid professional staff are Ugandan and based in Kampala. This provides employment in Uganda, ensures that our volunteer consultants benefit from the local knowledge of our staff and means that Grow is principally Ugandan-led. Additionally basing our management in a developing country minimises our operating costs to make the most efficient use of our funds. Grow Movement is funded entirely by individual and corporate donations.
