Dear Grow Movement supporters,
Two years ago we asked whether a skilled business person on the other side of the world could make a difference to a developing country entrepreneur through mobile phone and email. Today almost 250 Grow Movement entrepreneurs, volunteer consultants and support team members in 29 countries from every major culture on the planet have shown that yes we can:
I am delighted to announce that our entrepreneurs created 100 jobs in our first 40 projects in Uganda and increased their profits 20% on average (6% median increase) in real terms in an 18.7% inflationary environment: Possibly 100 proud families supporting themselves and able to access food, education and healthcare.
All our entrepreneurs stated that their Grow Movement consultants were a significant influence on these outcomes. Each job created cost $100 in central Ugandan overheads (our only significant cost) and we are working on a current cost base thirty times cheaper than conventional expatriate development consultants. More details can be found in our first newsletter and on the results page of our website on the links below:

We have been humbled by the creativity and determination of our entrepreneurs to succeed and inspired by the diversity of our volunteer consultants; from a brain research scientist in Delhi, an engineer in China and a project manager in Egypt to management consultants in Washington DC and Malawi.
Today we publish the case studies of the 24 projects where 91 of these jobs were created with video testimony from 15 of our entrepreneurs:

One person has done more than any other to make this happen: Violet Busingye, a young Ugandan woman, and our wonderful manager who has increased our operations twelve times in size across five countries: Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and Malawi. We are about to double in size again to a capacity of 140 concurrent projects when a second manager joins to work with Violet in the next few months.
We are also incredibly grateful for the support we have received from our partner Enterprise Uganda who run highly effective entrepreneurial workshops http://www.enterprise.co.ug/ . They had the vision to trial the Grow Movement idea with us and we would not be here without them.
At Grow Movement we will continue to do all we can to bring people everywhere together in the cause of economic empowerment of the people in the developing world.
We can do all of this because of your support. Thank you.
Regards,
Chris Coghlan
Chief Executive
